Run faster for just £40!

Time and time again we come across triathletes who have spent small fortunes on improving their swim and bike performance. Swim analysis can be vital to improving your swim and highlights the key areas to work. A new bike or a bike ‘fit’ is commonplace among triathletes or an upgrade of wheels or a more aero helmet - the list is endless!
However, when athletes have a poor race or find they didn’t quite achieve what they are capable of, it is more often than not down to the run phase of the race.
Answer these questions honestly:
- Do you run much quicker in training than you do off the bike?
- Do you find your posture when running off the bike is worse than it would be in a stand alone run?
- Are you one of those people who has a tendency to fall forwards from the hips and over-stride the longer the run goes?
- Does your SPM drop on a brick run?
- Have you had ITB, knee, shin splints, Achilles or plantar fascia injuries during the build up to your race?
What do you invest in your running?
If I told you that there are very simple ways to improve and prevent or at least manage all of the above so that you can run off the bike and hold your race pace with much more efficiency you’d take it right?
Oddly, not many triathletes seem to value their run technique. They would rather reflect on a poor run and think the answer to improving their run next time is to do more of the same, 'perhaps I need longer brick runs’ or 'I need to smash my intervals harder in future’.
Nope, the answer often lies in something very simple - run technique. And at TCUK we have access to one of the best run technique coaches in the country in Chris Adams - The Running Coach. You would imagine he’s inundated with triathletes begging him to help them improve their technique so they can knock 15 minutes off their Ironman marathon time with no more effort - nope, nope. NOPE!!!
UNBELIEVEABLE right!
It's like persuading my son to put his socks on in a morning! In fact it’s harder! I almost drag my athletes kicking and screaming to see Chris. Perhaps it’s the prohibitive cost of the session? It’s 40 bloody pounds! It’s cheaper than one Asics trainer never mind a pair!
Swim analysis £90-100
Bike fit £125-200
Run technique coaching £40 - not per step taken! That’s the price for the whole two hour session spent working on improving your ability to run to your very best ability! It even includes a banana and a cup of Yorkshire tea!
But wait…there is a problem…
It’s in bloody Sheffield! ?
Where is Sheffield? Don’t they wear flat caps and run whippets? Won’t they be out checking on their pigeons when they are supposed to be checking my technique?
I understand your concerns, but Chris and I will try to protect you from this harsh environment of fresh air, greenery and rolling hills. Chris has invested heavily in the warehouse he likes to call his ‘Studio’, we can retreat there if necessary.
I think I’m done. Time to calm down and take another tablet. I can feel a calf strain coming on in protest over my outburst. But God it, feels better, it’s been said.
Serious business:
Foundation course: £40 – 9.30am on Saturday 1st September - suitable for those who haven’t seen Chris before for run technique work
Progression course: £40 – 12pm on Saturday 1st September - suitable for those who have already seen the light and improved their performance with Chris on one or more occasion
Venue will be confirmed nearer to the time but it will be in, or very close to where England’s finest three centre halves were born.
